The Best Places To Surf In Jupiter, Florida

Living in the Jupiter, Florida area offers some exceptional surfing opportunities. While not renowned in the same way as Cocoa Beach or Satellite Beach, Palm Beach County catches swells from the north that miss many other parts of the coast, thanks to the location being at the eastern point of the Florida coastline. As a local surf shop in Jupiter Florida, Groundswell Surf Shop wants its purveyors of surfing to not only be equipped with the best of the best in equipment, but to of course, put it to good use. Here are some of the best places to surf in, in Jupiter, Florida.

Info On The Jupiter Inlet

Two sandbars, one inside, another on the way out back, parallel to each other between Jupiter Inlet and the Juno Beach Pier. When a good swell is brewing, many sections of these sandbars create good, long walls. Be wary of rocks, though. When conditions are favorable, a fun wave will break beyond the dunes at any given point. While a decent left breaks off the main outside peak, the right is what makes the inlet famous. Before the South Jetty was extended in 1998-99, there was also a rippable left inside the cove and adjacent to the jetty. You can read more on the specifics of the inlet from these findings from Magic Seaweed.

Reef Road Surfing

The Reef Road in Palm Beach is home to some of the largest waves on the East Coast. Waves are known to reach up to 15 feet and are considered by a good many to be some of the best in the state. You will get the most from this spot at low-mid tide, incoming with a north to northeast swell, creating long left-handers.

Juno Beach Surfing

The South Side of the Juno Beach pier is another coveted spot for local and visiting surfers. The beach attracts swimmers, sunbathers, fishermen, sightseers, and many more. More specifically, it’s known for its 990-foot pier which helps create a super consistent surf and presents a superior vantage point, especially if you are looking to capture surfers with your lens. Juno lends itself to people of all experience levels, offering right and left breaks.

Jupiter Dog Beach Surfing

Up the road from Juno Beach Pier, at the end of Marcinski Road, you will come across Jupiter Dog Beach. The stretch is generous in its array of left and right breaks, which is great, no matter how you ride.

Jupiter Beach Surfing

Last, but certainly not least, we have Jupiter Beach. Jupiter Beach, south of the Jupiter Inlet offers up its best surf at both low and mid-tide. It is more protected from the wind than most locations and the long coast, offering spectating in a comfortable fashion. While there, presumably after you hit up our local surf shop in Jupiter Florida, it’s an environment where you will not only soak up the rays of the famous Jupiter Lighthouse, but its breaks are also what captivate the surfing community.
